Leaked Sony teaser supposedly shows upcoming 'Honami' handset | Android Central

Sony 'Xperia i1' could be unveiled at pre-IFA press conference

It seems Sony will hold its IFA press conference on Sep. 4 (the same day Samsung's doing its thing), and one device that's likely to make an appearance is the Japanese manufacturer's upcoming flagship handset, know by its codename "Honami." The device, which is also rumored to go to market as the "Xperia i1," will reportedly pack a Snapdragon 800 CPU, a five-inch-plus display and a 20-megapixel rear camera with Sony G lens.

We've already witnessed plenty of leaked photos of the Honami, but this latest image supposedly comes directly from Sony in the form of a teaser for its IFA press conference. Leaked through Chinese forum Digi-Wo, the image outs the Sep. 4 announcement date, and shows what seems to be the right edge of the handset. There's the trademark rounded power button in the center, a volume rocker below it, and what might be a SIM tray further up. And like Xperias Z and Z Ultra, it looks like the Honami will be offered in a purple color option too.

The original poster claims that a Chinese release will be taking place soon after the Berlin announcement; hopefully the rest of the world will enjoy a similarly speedy retail launch. Whatever happens, we'll be live from IFA next month to bring you full coverage of all Sony's announcements.
